Prospecting on this small exploration site had all started in 1965, by the Nickel Rim Mines Limited. During this time period the small scale mining claim was said to have been further explored when company officials had conducted their own drilling program. Five holes became drilled by the company which had obtained 1,611 feet of core sampling to be examined. However nothing encouraging was reported to have actually commenced full scale mining operation on the Sturdy Gold Prospect. Some small scale gold and copper was reported to have been uncovered by the drilling phase. In nature this whole entire drilling program had average 0.12% Copper and 0.05% Gold for a distance of 4 feet, and 0.03 ounces of gold per a ton over 2.5 feet.
Another company known as the Sturdy Mines Limited had incorporated it self to further prospect this claim in 1968. A small series of twelve diamond drill holes that totalled 2,178 feet of core sampling which was preformed by the company before commencing further explorations. The Sturdy Mines Limited would also complete another diamond drilling program that totalled 5,223 feet of core sample from six diamond drill holes. During this time period the Sturdy Mines Limited would also estimate the mine to contain a reserve of 71,160,000 tons of Iron Ore.. No other development, productions, or explorations had occurred since the mine was proven to be unsatisfactory for development or production.
