Within 1975, the United Asbestos Corporation was first incorporated to work the Midlothian Asbestos Mine Property. The much need preparations for stoping were made in order to commence production during the summer months of 1975. Further expectations by the company had rather planned to have reach normal mining, and milling operations in 1976. Asbestos Mining in Matachewan, Ontario, Canada has been rather an industry of short lived operations due to small scale deposits. Much attention was given to the Midlothian Asbestos Project as it had rejuvenated the community of Matachewan, Ontario, Canada. Prior to this there was also a new subdivision that was partly built during 1975, and the Matachewan became an improving district within Ontario, Canada.
Even more problems became in encountered during the operating year of 1976, which didn't sustain optimum production. Further exploratory work done on the eastern part of the property which had intersected asbestos at the Midlothian Mine Property. It was at this point in time when the mine was undergoing further preparations in hopes of getting it operational in 1977.
It was also within the 1970s, when another exploration company was engage in sulphide Explorations, Most of this exploratory work was done between Midlothian Lake, and another lake, that showed spectacular gold values in Sulphides. More information to come on this area. It seems like a lot of asbestos mine projects produce a sulphide bearing zone that's displace further away from the asbestos deposit in Ontario.
From the trouble that became encounter it had rather discontinued the production at the Midlothian Asbestos Mine in 1977. By this time, the United Asbestos Corporation was undergoing feasibility studies that were conducted by Kilborn Engineering for the Clarkson Company, Ltd. Exploratory work had also continued onward when the pit was some what developed to a depth of 20 feet below the surface. It was also in 1977, when a diamond drilling program was conducted, and totaled 3,308 meters in length.
Prior to ceasing mining operations the company had under went further testing of the Asbestos Fibers in 1978. Most of this work had resulted in setting up a pilot mill to full operate this mine site by the Kilborn Engineering Team for the Clarkson Company, Ltd. No other work was done on the newly developed pit during the operating year of 1978. Most of these preparations were continued through out 1979 and 1980, when the mine, and surface plant were kept on stand by for production.
In 1981, the mill was rather cleaned, and pilot mill was put into operation at the Midlothian Asbestos Project. Development was once again continued onward when a large pit was being developed to a depth of 50 feet. Processing that was done at the historical MIdlothian Plant had ended up treating the remaining 5,000 tonnes of ore from the dry storage. After processing all the required tonnage it was rather reported that the company had ceased operations due to further problems since commencement of operations.
