A copper discovery was made in 1955, when the Mongul Mining Corp had stated this claims. Further prospecting in the Algoma District had soon reveal extensive veins of copper ore. Much of this became made when 3 pits, a shaft, and an EM survey was carried out on the property. Mining was discontinued by the company as it was left to become abandoned.

More stakings on this property were made when the Rio TInto Exploration, Limited had done some sampling. After not encountering anything promising the company would also abandoned mining operations at the former site by the end 1963.

Mining operations at the Bilton Prospect became resumed by a prospector who became identified as W. Doughty of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada. He additionally had shipped a few bulk samples to the Pronto Mines Mill, which was operated by Rio Algom Mines, Limited It was rather reported that the first bulk sample had contained 8.96 tonnes ore, grading at 1.81% copper. This also followed by another shipment of 50 tonnes of ore, which ended up grading 0.62%. It was within this time period when the first shipment had a total production of 317 LB of Copper produce.
Quartz chalcopyrite veins occur in Gowganda sediments, strike E and dip is not reported, but is apparently steeply N. Veins have been traced by drilling for a length of 2600 feet to a depth of 425 feet. Two principal zones: West body indicated for a length of 450 feet; East body indicated for a length of 400 feet, and is separated from West body along strike by 200 feet of almost barren material.
